” ‘it aint right, said Jem ‘no son, its not right.” This quote is from after the trial and Tom was found guilty. I think that this shows that Jem is mature and knowing that how people think is wrong. After tome was found guilty Jem and Scout were no happy. Atticus was disappointed because he knew no matter what he did Tom was going to be found guilty. Jem and socut now know that Tom’s life will not be the same it will have an effect on his family. They now realize that people are treated wrong and Tom should not have been found guilty. Scout, Jem, and Atticus are sad for Tom Robinson. I like these chapters a lot, although it was very sad in these chapters. It was very sad because Tom Robinson died. After we found out that he was accused, even though atticus’s evidence was way more believable. It was just because those dumb jury people are racists. I hate racists. They just think there better than whatever there racists to. But there not. They are just mean. Now that I’m off topic, lets get back to why he dies. After they accused him, he was sent to jail. Tom Robinson tryed to escape the jail, but it didn’t go to well. He was shot down, and not just to stop him from running, but was shot repeatativly, way more times than what was needed to kill him, let alone stop him. I think that was wrong and sad. They should not have shot him down like that. They should have shot him in the leg or something and brought him back, that was just immoral and evil at what they did. That was the only thing in these chapters that i thought was interesting. Also i think that the guy who shot him should go to court as well. And atticus should try to prosecute him, because he shot way to many times. These chapters were very good. It was sad that the jury believed in Mayella. It made me think about the way racism use to be. When Ewells threaten Atticus I would have started a fight. If I were Atticus I would have punched Ewells and probably lose my job. Then I would have gotten high fives because I beat up Ewells. I like Jem better as a matured kid. He is a great kid. He may get in trouble but that doesn’t make him a bad kid he will end up being a good kid. It is messed up of him though to tell Scout to leave. The most terrifying part was when Tom was killed. These chapters to be were very revealing. I predicted that somehow Atticus would win the case and everything would be fine, but that was not what happened. As most people expected the jury went with Mayella. I don’t think it is fair that just because tom Robinson is African American they felt that had the mind set the he did it. Atticus had a good case and I think that he should have won. I like how hard Atticus tried but he knew that in the end he would lose. It reminds of people that know no matter what they do they can’t win or succeed, but by them trying it makes a difference. I thought that it was sad that Tom Robinson was shot. He was killed for the color of his skin. Tom Robinson was an innocent man. When Scout and Jem found out from Atticus I think they were in shock. They wanted to their dad to win the case and they saw how hard he tried. Scout and Jem were in shock because they thought the court ruleing was bad enough and Tom was innocent. These chapters were intense and my predictions were totally different from what had really happened.
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” This quote means that anything bad happens then everyone will be in danger. Such as when the fire went up everyone’s house was in danger. This quote really explains whats happens in this book. It also talks about how they worked together. It also talks about they were in danger at Boo Radley’s place. When Jem got caught in the fence that was very scary. This quote also shows how the neighborhood worked together and talked to each other and learned about the storys going around in the neighborhood. This quote is very good and it came from MLK so it is famous. Chapters 17- 20 were good chapters. The court case was really good to read. I could imagine what the court was like. Tom Robinson was nervous and the jury was angry. I thought that Atticus had a good case and was willing to almost anything to win. Atticus tried to make jury not think that Tom was another African American but as a person. I think that Atticus will not win the case, but I think people will think differently because how hard Atticus tried to help Tom. The way scout stopped the way mob was funny. I thought it was funny because Scout is just a little 2nd grader. She made a whole mob stop. The way who Walter’s dad felt must have been embarrassing that a little girl stopped him and the whole mob. I like the chapters; these were not as boring as the rest of the book and were actually readable. I also think that the kids are maturing because of the decisions that they are making. Scout decides to go to the court house and Jem starts to mature and not hangout with scout as much. Overall these chapters make the book interesting and I hope that Tom Robinson wins the case. i liked these chapters the most, they were the most interesting of them all. It was also very exciting and intense, and a little bit of sad. It was sad when Tom Robinson lost the case. It was very intense throughout the case though. Atticus showed a lot of power in his words, he through everything he had to try to get Tom Robinson from going to jail. Although it didn’t work, Scout and Jem were amazed on how well he did. When they had to go home to eat, I was trying to think on what would happen to Tom Robinson. I was hoping that the judges wouldn’t be a bunch or racist and accuse him anyway. That was very mean, i hope those people go to jail for being mean to him. All in all i loved these chapters, they were very exciting. They have been the most exciting chapters in this whole book so far, i can’t wait for whats going to happen next. I’m very excited for the next few chapters. I don’t know whats going to happen with the aunt, hopefully they get rid of her. That would be funny. “We decided that it would be best for you to have some feminine influence. It won’t be many years, Jean Louise, b efore you become interested in clothes and boys—” I choose this quote because it shows that scout actually is a girl, which i did not know when i started reading. And it shows you that she is like a tomboy. She does not like to act like a girl at all. Her Aunt Alexandra and her father do not like that at all. They think that she should act like a girl like every other girl. And she does not like that they want her to. She even cryed because of it. I think that was very mean of them to basically force being a girl onto her. |
